MISSION STATEMENT

Quality Assurance Branch evaluates the serviceability of ammunition by performing inspections and tests. They maintain Depot Surveillance Record (DSR) Cards for lots in storage, inspect all structures storing or processing ammunition, monitor all ammunition related operations, provide technical assistance and verify the demilitarization and disposition of hazardous items.

Mission Essential Task List

  • Plans, develops, and directs the Ammunition Surveillance Program for toxic chemical and conventional ammunition items and related components
  • Determine serviceability of munitions
  • Performs Inspections
  • Maintain Depot Surveillance Record (DSR) Cards
  • Monitor Explosive/Chemical Operations for Safety
  • Maintain Suspension/Restriction File
  • Lightning Protection System Inspection and Test
  • Monitor JACADS Operations
  • Verify Destruction of Munitions at JACADS
  • Ensure Safe Storage of Munitions
  • Assist in Containerization of Leaking Munitions
  • Ensures All Operations are Performed IAW Regulations and SOPs
  • Inspect Transport Vehicles, MHE and Lifting Devices
  • Provide Technical Assistance
  • Advise the Commander on Plant Status
  • Evaluate/Advise on CAIRA Capabilities

Serves as a Member of:

  • USACAP Safety & Occupational Health Advisory Council
  • Island Surety Board

Red Hat Area Responsibilities

  • Storage Monitoring Inspection Scheduling/Insps
  • Magazine Inspection Scheduling/Insps
  • Basic and Operational Load Inspections
  • Lightning Protection Program
  • Update Depot Surveillance Records (DSR) Cards
  • Perform Area Inspections
  • Maintain Ammunition Information Notices and Ammunition Suspension/Restriction File
  • Assists in Containerization of Leaking Munitions
  • Perform Quarterly Lewisite Inspections
  • Inspect Transport Vehicles, MHE, Lifting Devices, Decon Stocks and SCBA
  • Provide Technical Assistance
  • Monitor and Perform Open and Clear Procedures

JACADS Area of Responsibilities

  • Eyes and Ears of the USACAP Commander
  • Lightning Protection Systems Verification Inspections
  • Leaker Overpack Container Inspections
  • General Explosive Safety Verification Inspections
  • Calibrated Items Verification Inspections
  • Fire Extinguisher Verification Inspections
  • Demilitarization, Decontamination and Hazardous Waste Verification Inspection
  • Certificate of Destruction Verification
  • Track and Maintain Records on TCM Shipments from USACAP Red Hat Area
  • JACADS SOPs Compliance Audits
  • Preparation/Revision of Ammunition Surveillance Procedures (ASPs)
